songity songs.

1. a song from your childhood. baby beluga by raffi. we had the book and we used to sing it ALL of the time. definitely a favorite.

2. a song that reminds you of your most recent ex-boyfriend/girlfriend. i kind of want to vomit as i'm writing this, but there's an inside joke between some of my friends and i about this song as it relates to a person i was involved with - so, cheesy as it may be,
your body is a wonderland by john mayer. it's okay, you can laugh. i do, too.

3. a song that reminds you of one/both of your parents.
grandma's feather bed by john denver. i was raised on john denver, the carpenters, the mamas & papas, and james taylor, and this is a song that i have vivid memories of singing along to with my dad and mom when i was little, imagining that my grandma had a feather bed just like the one described in the song.

4. a song that calms you down.
hiding my heart by brandi carlile. she has an insane power and this sort of light that just radiates from her voice and it makes me happier than anything. need an example? see here.

5. a song that is often stuck in your head. right now, i (unfortunately) can't get
friday by rebecca black out of my head.

6. a song that reminds you of a best friend. although i have some best friends from different walks of life, a song that makes me think of my best friend rachel (who is abroad in switzerland this semester and it pains me to know that she's been away for this long - thankfully, she comes home next month!) would have to be (as inappropriate as it is)
p***y, money, weed by lil' wayne. she raps it like a champ and it makes me think of the two of us driving down dirt roads and rapping together.

7. a song that reminds you of the past summer.
waka waka by shakira and freshlyground. i studied abroad in italy this past summer, and this song followed me everywhere i went. it was the one song that we could hear at a discoteche and literally get more excited than i can even begin to describe.

8. a song that reminds you of your first love. i don't have a first "love" - so i guess this is one i'll have to make use of a pass on.

9. a song that makes you hopeful.
you make my dreams come true by hall & oates. any time you need to cheer yourself up, just play this song, drive down a road with the windows rolled down, and jam out.

10. a song by your favorite band. i don't necessarily have a favorite band, but
sara bareilles is my favorite artist. and i say that without the shadow of a doubt. and between the lines is such a painfully beautiful song that i love by her.

11. a song on the soundtrack of your favorite movie.
peace train by cat stevens from my favorite movie, remember the titans.

12. the last song you heard.
bills, bills, bills by destiny's child - i was having a little bit of oldies therapy.

13. a song that reminds you of a former friend. i don't necessarily know if i can think of a "former" friend at this moment.

14. a song that reminds you of your boyfriend/girlfriend. welllll. that's an easy one. because i don't have one. thus, there is no song.

15. a song you love singing along to.
always be my baby by mariah carey - you can't get much better than that.

16. a song that made you cry.
someone like you by adele. it makes me cry because it someone makes me face the reality that'll be my future. and makes me so sad, because i don't want to be that woman who meets her old flame when she's 40 and then finds him content with a family and the love of the life while i'm sitting childless and loveless in a shack on the side of the road.

17. a song that makes you want to dance.
release me by agnes. if you don't know it, then get on ittt.

18. a song you love but rarely listen to.
til' the end of time by timothy bloom - i forget it exists, but there is so much beauty in it.

19. the first song alphabetically in your iPod. -
above all, by michael w. smith - a little bit of jesus power here, people.

20. the last song alphabetically in your iPod. -
2012 by nicki minaj & jay sean - such jam.

21. your favorite song. i don't know if this is physically possible for me to pick a favorite song. i just can't do it.

22. a song that someone has sung to you.
gunpowder & lead by miranda lambert - liz sings this in our house all of the time (when she's here and not abroad) and we usually end up blasting it and reveling in its freedom and willpower.

23. a song that you cannot stand to listen to. after living with my brother, any, and i repeat, any, song that is by
alvin & the chipmunks, or the infamous chipettes for that matter. thanks, ev.

24. a song that you have danced to with a best friend.
the cupid shuffle - before it became overplayed and annoying.

25. a song you can listen to all day without getting tired of. right now, that song is
the show goes on by lupe fiasco, however, i have a feeling that may change soon.
